Christ-Like Lifestyle

“For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice, That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor, Not [to be used] in the passion of lust like the heathen, who are ignorant of the true God and have no knowledge of His will. That no man transgress and overreach his brother and defraud him in this matter or defraud his brother in business. For the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we have already warned you solemnly and told you plainly. For God has not called us to impurity but to consecration [to dedicate ourselves to the most thorough purity]. Therefore whoever disregards (sets aside and rejects this) disregards not man but God, Whose [very] Spirit [Whom] He gives to you is holy (chaste, pure). 1Thess 4:3-8 AMPLIFIED

As Christ is so are we to be in the world. Christ is HOLY; we must therefore be HOLY…”Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” [1Pe 1:16]. Holiness is to be pure, dedicated, morally good, sanctified or consecrated; it means to be set apart for good and godly works.  Merriam Webster dictionary described holy as “exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness”.  It is to have divine qualities, venerated or sacred and pious.

“Nevertheless the foundation of God stand sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let everyone that name the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strife. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient” 2 Timothy 2:24

The price to be paid in order to qualify as vessel of honor is explicitly displayed above. Whoever want to be qualified and fit for the Master’s use must purge themselves from everything carnal, sensual or even demonic and depart from all manner of evil. He must flee all manner of youthful lusts, desires and passions inconsistent with the WORD of God and they must follow after righteous living, faith, love and peace.

“Those who make themselves CLEAN from all those evil things, will be used for special purposes, because they are DEDICATED AND USEFUL to their Master, ready to be used for every good deed” 2 Tim.  2:21 GNB

There is a price to pay if you want to be used for special purposes, connect with higher unction of the spirit and want to become more like Jesus; you must clean up your act such that there will be no vices or works of the flesh or satanic propagations that the devil will hold on to in order to disqualify you.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” Rom 12:1-2

After accepting Christ as Lord and Savior, we ought to lay our bodies as sacrifice on the ALTAR of God. Since the altar sanctifies the gift then the altar of the cross of Christ sanctifies us but we must not join the multitude to do evil any more. You cannot take a sanctified body to join to harlot or use for evil works anymore. Secondly the MIND must be continually renewed by the Word of God so that it can be washed or cleansed through the washing of the water by the word. We must allow the MIRROR of the word to be our focal point so that we can behold it and be transformed into the image of Christ from glory to glory [2 Cor. 3:16-18] and also Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word that is able to save our soul [James I: 21]
