The Faithful Witness

0.00

The faithful witness “ho martus ho pistos” was strictly used for the Lord Jesus Christ who witnessed of God the Father and also for His disciples all over the world who are assigned also with the responsibility to witness of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds” Heb. 1:1-2 KJV

It must be understood from the context of some titles of the Lord Jesus Christ and how that same title in a lesser form was given unto the saints of God. For example, Jesus Christ is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and the Chief or High Priest while we have been proclaimed to be the Kings and Priests unto our God.

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” – Rev. 1:6 KJV

In the same token Jesus Christ has been proclaimed to be the faithful and true witness of the heavenly Father and His works, while we have been proclaimed as witnesses unto Christ and His works in our locality and to bear witness of Him in all the territories of the earth.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. Act 1:8 KJV

Whatever we see that the Lord Jesus gave unto us is a fraction of what He was bestowed upon by the heavenly Father to do kingdom business and exploits. The word “power” here refers to the divine enablement and miraculous power which the Lord gives through the ministry of the Holy Spirit; it includes the power of speaking with new tongues; of preaching the gospel with enormous outcome and signs following; of enduring great grace, spiritual gifts, anointing and divine enablement, this will always be given to those who have been set apart for kingdom business.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…”  Luke 4:18 KJV

The same Spirit of Jehovah God was given to the Lord Jesus without measure and He was empowered through the anointing of the Holy Spirit while divine grace gifts were given to Him in order to preach to the poor, mend the brokenhearted, set at liberty those who are held bound, deliver those who are held captive and declare the year of the Lord’s jubilee. Jesus came strictly as a faithful witness testifying of God the Father. Among other things the Lord Jesus came to testify of the Father and get souls won into the kingdom of God.
