Training To Reign: The Spirit of Discipleship

“Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD…. Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding” Jer. 23:1-2; Jer. 3:14-15

It is very disgraceful that we have left discipleship which is the schematic that God chose to teach, train and mature Christians but leaders of the household of God has gone into error of teaching what gratifies the flesh or bring economic empowerment to the people of God to the neglect of their spirit-being. The body of Christ must rise up as God’s principal agent in restoring, healing, saving, mending broken lives and nations until the people are saved and tutored through the discipleship training scheme so that they can be transformed and renewed in the spirit of their minds

“And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over 1them: and there were with him about four hundred men” 1 Sam. 22:2

God is looking for MATURE Christians like David who are men after God’s heart. They are willing to take the downtrodden, depressed and the rejected to the feet of God’s throne and use the sword of the spirit to cut off their carnal mindset and turn them into mighty men of valor usable in the hand of the Lord, these are trained so that they can mature and in turn train others to become like Jesus. They too can walk in the pathway of the Lord and the cycle of having more disciples and mature Christians therefore can be perfected.

The Word of God and its teaching is being used to remove the guiltiness in the heart of men while the love of God is embedded in their hearts so that they can become men who have been transformed into the image and likeness of Christ [2 Cor. 3:18] and are called disciples. These men must go through discipleship training and they have been exhorted to set their mind and affections on things above where the Godhead resides [Coll. 3:1-3].

Such men does not cry peace, peace when war is coming; but are bold like a lion, they cry out aloud warning the unbelievers of the peril of hell and convince believers to rid self of evil lifestyle. They urge all to come to the Lord whose blood is able to cleanse them of their unrighteousness.

The gospel is the good-news of eternal life that disciple propagate, such that hungry souls can come to the green pastures and feed adequately from abundant resources of the Word of Life that makes men to have God kind of life.

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will TEACH US OF HIS WAYS, and we will WALK in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the LAW, and the WORD of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD” Isa 2:2-5

For emphasis sake, let us look at Isaiah 2:3 MSSG Bible

“They’ll say, “Come, let’s climb GOD’s Mountain, go to the House of the God of Jacob. He’ll show us the way he works so we can live the way we’re made.” Zion’s the source of the revelation. GOD’s Message comes from Jerusalem” Isaiah 2:3 MSSG

It is time for us all to come up to the house of the Lord upon Mount Zion so that we shall be made to know the Word of the Lord. God will teach us by His Spirit and we will walk like He did. The more of His word in our hearts, the more of Him in our lives and the more we are transformed into His own image and go from glory to glory [2 Cor. 3:18]. The gospel is the good news that takes grip of the earth of men and transforms them into Christ-likeness as the word is engrafted into their hearts [Ezek. 36:26-29] and changes their behavioral pattern.

Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost. He came as Man to men in order to teach men to become and behave like gods. God was in Christ, but in human form in order to do something in man: not only for man, but in man. God could have done everything for man without coming in human form, but in order to do something in man he had to come in the form of a man. He showed us the possibility of living a holy lifestyle and how not to give in to carnal behavior and demonic lifestyle.

“It is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me” Galatians 2:20 – R.V.

The end product of our discipleship training is to have the testimony that the old man [carnal nature] has died and the life we live now is patterned after Christ kind of life. Discipleship is to be trained and disciplined in godly character. Without this training, disciples cannot walk in the spirit and will fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Disciples have the skill to rightly divide the word of God, they have experienced the things they are teaching, and they must have accurate knowledge of the people they are also to disciple. And have spiritual knowledge, understanding and wisdom so that they can be transformed and also impart others. Disciples have zeal for others to come up in the knowledge of God and excellence of wisdom; they labor in the word of God and have compassion for others.
