Despite our betrayal, rejection and manipulations against the people of God and God Himself, God offers us His immeasurable love, seeking always to forgive us and bring us into reconciliation, holy living and loving relationship with Him. God confronts our guilt including un-forgiveness by nailing them all to the Cross.
God creates us to live in loving relationship with Him and the brethren. The enemy of our souls however came to steal, kill and destroy by interjecting lies, hypocrisy, enmity, rage, revenge, hatred, backbiting, jealousy and the likes to the effect that when wronged we cage the people in our hearts while we refuse to let go of the offense and un-forgiveness was created or sets in.
Wikipedia described forgiveness as “the renunciation or cessation of resentment, anger as a result of a perceived offence, disagreement or mistake or ceasing to demand punishment or restitution”. Wikipedia further said “forgiveness is the intentional and voluntary process by which a victim undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding an offense, let go of negative emotions such as revenge, with an increased ability to wish the offender well”. Sin creates a debt while forgiveness cancels the debt. It means somebody offended you and deserves punishment but you gave up your right to recoup or punish them…
”If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him” – Luke 17:3
