Jesus Christ is the patterned Son of the heavenly Father and all sons of God who have a spiritual father on earth must understand the relationship that the heavenly Father had with the Son and vice versa so as to know how to relate with their spiritual fathers while the spiritual father also must learn how to relate with their spiritual sons who submitted to their leadership and fatherhood
It does not matter how long you have been a Christian, the point is, if the dimension of the Sonship of Christ and His relationship to His Father is not in you, you can only be a lopsided or twisted son in the kingdom of God. With this you will not be able to know and relate aright as a Christian to his spiritual father or as a minister who has a spiritual father. We all must connect with spiritual elders who have been imparted with greater dimension of knowledge, wisdom and understanding of what ministry is all about and well able to help us reach undeniable maturity as we hear their voice of reasoning and conform to the image and likeness of Christ through their help.
Like the eagle, there is a time of training between mother eagle and the eaglets but the eaglets must be willing to grow or excel in the training process else the mother eagle will make its nest uncomfortable for the eaglet by ruffling the seven layered nest and bringing thorns and thistles from the bottom to the top for him to lay on. Especially when they are too comfortable with the food the mother is bringing and does not want to venture out and fly in order to fend for themselves.
“Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that uses milk is not skilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belong to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” Heb. 5:11-14
It is important to know that for a season spiritual fathers do feed their protégé with milk of the word until they begin to mature but there will be a time that they must be fed with strong meat in order to mature. Some children that ought to mature into sons were “dull of hearing”; not taking cognizance of what they were taught and not growing thereby. Growth and spiritual maturity is a function of having to inculcate the elementary knowledge [Hebrews 6:1-3] and taking in the strong meat of the word of God.
