The book of Esther is one of the historical books of the Bible where the name of God was rarely mentioned but there were many allusion to the fact that the Jews in captivity in a foreign land have repented and sought the Lord their Lord fervently. There are three main characters here namely Esther, Mordecai and Artaxerxus the king. The name Esther is likened to the name Venus which means “the morning star” that sheds its light after all the others stars have ceased to shine. After Lucifer was dethroned, believers were given his position as the Morning Star above all angels but right below Jesus Christ as apprenticed stars and we are supposed to shine brighter unto a perfect day.
“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star”
Rev. 22:16
The conducts of Queen Esther cast a ray of light into the Jesus the Bright and Morning Star that shines forever more and the deeds of Him as the King of kings, Mordecai who seems to take on the Ministry of the Holy Spirit, a divine helper called alongside to help and Esther as the New Testament Church brought from obscurity as a nonentity to come and dwell in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.
“Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear”
Matt.13:43
This relationship between Christ and the Church is liken to that of the Sun and the Moon. The Sun shines but its rays reflects on the Moon to give the lesser light at night. If the Sun do not shine, there will be no light at night. But Jesus the Bright and Morning Star shines every day and we must reflect Him or be transformed daily into His own likeness and image shining brighter and brighter unto a perfect day. That was why Moses was commanded to bless the Israelites thus …”May the Lord make His face to shine on you” [Numbers 6:25]
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”
2 Cor. 4:6
The light of the knowledge of God is supposed to shine forth in our hearts as we look at the perfect law of liberty and we shall be transformed to become like Jesus in an ever increasing splendor [2 Cor. 3:16-18]; and so the time has come for the Church of God to arise and shine for our Light has come and the glory of God is risen over the Church [Isa. 60:1-3].
The luminesce of the Church is supposed to increase as we emulate the Lord Jesus Christ and put on Christ, give no occasion to the works of the flesh and let the aroma of Christ fill the air through us as we showcase Christ character and nature wherever we find ourselves on the face of the earth.
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world”
Phil. 2:15
There must be a continual purging, cleansing and letting go of the leaven so that we might become like Jesus Christ in all ramification of life.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience”
Coll. 3:1-6
In our bid to become like Jesus Christ, we must put on Christ and put off every carnal behavior that will negatively affect how we shine forth in this world. Only when we do such, shall we become the salt of the earth seasoning everything we meet and the Light of the world just like Master Jesus.
Esther was a star and we see every fruit of the Spirit exuberating in her life such that she showcased Christ in the palace and of course had favor with God the King and with all men. Her godly virtues like humility make the grace of God to increase more and more in her life and the wisdom from above exonerated her and made her to be preferred above all other virgins. Godliness with contentment gave her an edge over others and she was showered with favor all the way. The wisdom Esther applied with the aid of Mordecai and Hegai the chamberlain cause her glory to shine forth even when she was a slave in Shushan.
“…a man’s wisdom makes his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed”
Eccl. 8:1
Welcome to your season of divine revelation and deep insight into the character and nature that you as a believer need to develop and imitate so that like Esther you can shine forth and reign in this dark and perverse world.
